Prairie Valley School Division will begin offering French Immersion programming at White City School, effective the start of the 2011-2012 school year.
Prairie Valley will be offering French immersion at the kindergarten, grade one and grade two levels this fall and intends to expand to higher level grades annually as the program grows.
In January 2011, Prairie Valley made a request to the Minister of Education to designate White City School as a French Immersion school. After review, it was determined that Prairie Valley School Division had met the requirements, as stipulated in The Education Act, to offer French Immersion programming at White City School commencing this fall.
Last year, the Division held public meetings and surveyed parents to determine interest in developing a French Immersion program within Prairie Valley. That process resulted in White City being identified as a viable site for a French Immersion program.
