Congratulations Iron Science Teachers! Prairie Valley School Division is proud of the four Iron Science Competition winners!

Tina Exner, Carissa Listrom, and Patrick Kossman from Balgonie, and Judson Trenholm of Kipling, won the Iron Science Competition Prairie regional playoffs on January 27th, 2010 at the Saskatchewan Science Center.

The competitors had to use candy as part of their science experiment and had to produce a six-minute skit to demonstrate a scientific concept. So far the team has won $2500, $625 of which will go to Greenall, and $625 to Kipling.

Their team "Alpha Wild" will be competing again at the national event in Calgary on March 12, 2010.

About Iron Science
The Iron Science challenge is a celebration of science teachers! It champions the creation of high-quality creative approaches to teaching science and engineering and shines a spotlight on skilled and courageous teachers from across Canada. The event follows a format similar to the famous Iron Chef television series, with teams of teachers presenting spectacular and imaginative feats of science and engineering – built around a “secret ingredient.” Through playoffs at science centres across Canada, five teams are selected to compete in the Iron Science final at the University of Calgary.
