It was incredible to watch as hundreds of First Nations graduates from Treaty 4 territory, which includes Prairie Valley School Division, as well as Regina Public and Regina Catholic school divisions, participated in a grand entrance to kick off the 2019 Graduation Powwow.
Students lined up by school as they entered the dance arena in a grand entrance led by First Nations and school division leaders. The purpose of the day is to celebrate the incredible achievement of the graduates of Treaty 4 Territory. Congratulations to all the students who attended the celebration.
"Today is indeed a day to celebrate and reflect on your journey to earning a Grade 12 diploma. You have overcome challenges and barriers to get here and to count yourselves as members of the graduating class of 2019," Luc Lerminiaux, Director of Education for Prairie Valley School Division said to students before the Powwow. "Your success is an acknowledgement of your grit and perseverance."
