The Board of Education has approved the 2014-2015 school year calendar and the Ministry of Education has confirmed that the calendar meets requirements set through the Education Regulations.
Calendar development was a consultative process, involving the input of a focus group consisting of representatives from the Prairie Valley Teachers' Association, CUPE Local 5252, Conditions of Employment staff and senior Administrative staff. A survey then allowed parents/guardians and staff the opportunity to provide feedback on calendar options that were developed.
The 2014-2015 calendar has a post-Labour day start and consists of 184 student days, providing 950 instructional hours, with an additional seven non-student days used for parent/student/ teacher conferences, a system-wide institute day and school start- up and semester end.
The calendar also includes:
Innovative 310 minute school days
Balanced semesters — 92 instructional days per semester
Strategically placed non-student days
Two week Christmas break
February and Easter breaks
