Honor Roll Calculations

Honor Roll Students much achieve an average above 79.5% and Proficiency Students much achieve an average above 89.5%.

Honor Roll/Proficiency averages are calculated at each grade level using the indicated subjects below. Note: Eligible courses must be taken within the current school year in order to be included in the calculation.
 
Honor Roll/Proficiency averages are calculated annually based upon student marks as of the last Friday in May, or date set by the school.
 
Grade 7             English, Math, Science, Social, Art/Band, Physical Education and Health (Career Ed and Practical and Applied Arts will not be used)
 
Grade 8            English, Math, Science, Social, Art/Band, Physical Education and Health  (Career Ed and Practical and Applied Arts will not be used)

 

Grade 9             English, Math, Science, Social, Physical Education, Health, Art/Band and Practical and Applied Arts (Career Ed will not be used)

Grade 10          One ELA 10/11/18 plus an additional 8 classes

Grade 11          One ELA 20/21/28 plus an additional 7 classes

Grade 12          One ELA 30/31/38 plus an additional 6 classes        

Grade 7-9 Subject Area Awards:  Students will receive a certificate and have their name engraved on a school plaque.  The award is presented to the top academic student in ELA, Math, Science, Social, Arts Ed, and Band for each grade.

Grade 10-12 Subject Awards

ELA:

     Grade 10 - Grade 10 student with the top average between  ELA 10A and B10

     Grade 11 - Grade 11 student with the top mark in ELA 20

     Grade 12 - Grade 12 student with the top average in ELA A30 and ELA B30

Math:

     Grade 10 - Grade 10 student with the top average between Math Foundations 10 and Math Workplace 10

     Grade 11 - A grade 11 student that has the highest two class average of: Foundations 20, Pre-Calculus 20, and/or Workplace 20.

     Grade 12 - A grade 12 student that has the highest two class average of: Calculus 30, Foundations 30, Pre-Calculus 30, and/or Workplace 30.

Science:

     Grade 10 - Grade 10 student with the highest mark in Science 10

     Grade 11 - The grade 11 student with the highest two class average of: Environmental science 20, Health Science 20, Physical Science 20, Computer Science 20, Chemistry 3, Physics 30, and/or Biology 30.

     Grade 12 - The grade 12 student with the highest two class average of: Environmental science 20, Health Science 20, Physical Science 20, Computer Science 20, Chemistry 3, Physics 30, and/or Biology 30.

Social:

     Grade 10 - Grade 10 student with the highest mark in Social 10, History 10, Native Studies 10 mark.

     Grade 11 - A preference is given to the grade 11 student with the highest two class average of: History 20, Native Studeies 20, Psychology 20, Psychology 30, and Law 30.

     Grade 12 - The grade 12 student with the highest mark in Social 30.

Arts Achievement: Awarded to a grade 10, grade 11, and a grade 12 student. 

Preference is given to the student that has completed two of the following classes in the academic year:  Foods, Commercial Cooking, Visual Art, Arts Ed, Photogrpahy, Creative Writing, Clothing, Band, Jazz Band, and/or Cosmetology.  The winner should excel in academic achievement, artistic ability, and quality of work.

Shop Achievement: Awarded to a grade 10, grade 11, and a grade 12 student. 

Preference is given to the student that has completed two of the following classes in the academic year:  Welding, Construction, Motors and Mechanics, and/or Electrical.  The winner should excel in academic achievement, employability in the trades, and quality of work.
