LHS Advanced Placement Environmental Science students launched a balloon kit as part of the University of Regina’s High Altitude Balloon Project. The kit has sensors to gather the following information: temperature, pressure, relative humidity, compass headings, pitch, roll, yaw, altitude, light and uv. We hope to attain carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide sensors to include. A helium filled weather balloon will take this kit up 26 km. The GPS unit will send position information back. The kit will need to be retrieved once it lands. Information from the SD card will be downloaded into excel to be analyzed.
