In January and February, Pense students, staff and families will once again be participating in the school wide reading event, One School, One Book! The reading program that we are basing this project on involves children at all grade levels listening to or reading the same book. We have selected a title that can be followed and understood and enjoyed by all students. All families will receive a copy of Fenway and Hattie by Victoria J. Coe. Families will be asked to follow a reading schedule at home for their novel and complete daily trivia questions. Students return their answers to the trivia questions to school to be entered into daily prize draws. As has been the practice in the past, we will have audio recordings of staff members reading chapters from the book on our school website if that is of interest to you.
Once we have completed our One School, One Book reading event, we ask all families to donate their book back to the school if they don't plan to read it a second time. We will then swap these novels with another school in the division in the following school year. Watch for the novel and more detailed information to come home in January.
