Stewart Nicks School is happy to host Grand Coulee Preschool, as we believe it helps the children become familiar with the facility, the staff, as well as school procedures and expectations, and helps ease the transition to "regular school".
Please do not use the staff parking area, be mindful of the no parking zones along Assiniboia Avenue and for the safety of our children, do not pass by the school bus when the stop arm is out. Also, please remove all outdoor footwear when entering the school - it helps keep our school clean and the halls free of potential slip and fall hazards.
Grand Coulee Pre-School
Grand Coulee Pre-School is a non-profit, community-based preschool that was established in 2008 to provide a quality, affordable preschool educational program to families in the Grand Coulee community. The Preschool’s belief is that a positive early childhood education has a strong influence on a child’s overall growth and development. We believe that a child’s experience with early learning is at the core of building a positive self-image, and enthusiasm for school success. The learning environment is a developmentally appropriate program of teacher and child guided activities that provide children with opportunities to be successful, confident and active learners.
Classes are held at Stewart Nicks School (SNS) in Grand Coulee. Class time is dependent on classroom availability and is subject to change, a schedule will be given out in August.
Children range in age from 3-5 years old, and they must be within this age range by September 1 of the program year. All children are in one mixed-aged classroom comprised of a maximum of 12 students. Children must be toilet trained.
For the 2019/2020 school year, tuition fees are $100 per month. Fees must be paid by monthly post dated cheques. The monthly fee must be paid regardless of sickness or vacation. Notice of withdrawal of a child must be given one month in advance.
Parents are asked to commit to volunteering as a classroom helper for 3 preschool days during the school year. All volunteers will be required to undertake a Criminal Records Check for service with the vulnerable sector.
Children are asked to bring a drink and healthy snack to school. Please do not send anything containing nuts.
