The Walk to School Challenge last spring was a great success with children and teachers recognizing the benefits of some before-school exercise. As a result of this success, and in celebration of Earth Day on April 22, the SCC will organize another Walk to School Challenge, April 29-May3 (the week following our Easter Break)..
During that week, all students will be encouraged to arrive at school under their own steam, be it walking, biking, boarding, etc. Kids who normally bus to school will be picked up as usual; however, they will be dropped off at the eastern entrance to Hummingbird Bay. From here they will walk to school with parents serving as crossing guards along the route. (If you prefer that your child be dropped off at school, please inform the school administrators by email.)
We are looking for parent volunteers to supervise students crossing at the two entrances to Hummingbird and Ridgedale. It would only be for 15-20 minutes and a week-long commitment isn't required.
If you'd like to volunteer or if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, contact Jeff Hilchey at email@example.com.
