Glimpses from Gord - September 2025

As the combines start to roll across the fields, the reality of autumn sinks in.

The fall season with the harvest, falling leaves, back to school and resuming kid’s activities signals a new beginning, and one of my favourite times of year. Fall is a season of transition—a time when nature reminds us that change can be beautiful, and that every ending carries the promise of a new beginning.

Across our division, students are returning with curiosity and excitement, educators are re-engaging with passion and care, and families are reconnecting with the routines that shape learning and growth. This moment is more than just “back to school”—it’s a collective renewal of our commitment to student success.

In the coming months, we’ll gather at SCC regional conferences and Student Senate meetings—spaces where collaboration, leadership, and student voice come together. These events are vital opportunities to listen, learn, and build momentum for what’s next.

This year also marks a pivotal milestone: we are entering the final year of our current strategic plan. Now, we turn our attention to the future. Planning for our next strategic cycle will begin soon, and we look forward to feeding what we hear from our Student Senates and SCCs into our planning for future success.

Let this season inspire us to reflect, reimagine, and recommit. Together, we are cultivating a future where every learner feels seen, supported, and empowered.

Wishing everyone a safe, joyful, and inspiring start to the school year.
